 Operation Claude VI: Over The Top

Organised loosely on military lines, Alf’s Imperial Army has Regiments in several New Zealand towns and cities and fights its battles using strictly non-harmful weapons. The army’s aim is to educate New Zealanders about history and have fun along the way.

The procedure is already well-tried and all we have left to organise is the great mountain of flourbombs required to keep the troops supplied over the three days of the Waikato Show.  Paper swords are being steadily churned out, tabards are being manufactured as you read this; everything is well in train as they say.

This year, to add a little more flavour to the area there will be Victorian Games interspersed between the battles, including classics like sack, hoop and three-legged racing, Potato & Spoon racing and perhaps, if time allows, a little target practice, or perhaps some pin the “Moustache on the Kaiser”.  Nothing quite like a spot of charging about like mad things to get one’s adrenaline up for the next BATTLE!

Just one thing to note in the interests of safety and a fun time had by all concerned: as for previous years, a strict “No Training, No Battle” policy will be adhered to for the duration of Operation Claude VI.
